The examples require the local API service to be reachable on port 20128.
The curl examples read a Bearer token from the environment. A session cookie is an alternative; local development can disable the requirement with REQUIRE_API_KEY=false.
A session cookie can authenticate requests instead of a Bearer token; the file does not explain how the cookie is obtained or read.
