Move Elasticsearch documents with verified counts.
Copies Elasticsearch documents into prepared destination indices and verifies the resulting document counts.
When to use it
Use when copying or migrating indices, changing mappings, or transforming documents during reindexing.
Give it source and destination index names; it copies the documents in Elasticsearch and reports the verified destination count.
What you provide
Requires a reachable Elasticsearch 8.x or 9.x deployment, whether self-managed, Elastic Cloud Hosted, or Elastic Cloud Serverless.
Requires the elastic CLI version 0.2 or newer with stack es support; direct HTTP calls and other workarounds are prohibited.
For remote reindexing with basic authentication, the remote cluster password is supplied with a username in source.remote; an API key is the preferred alternative.
